The Senate is considering the nomination of John Bush to be a US Circuit Court Judge for the 6th Circuit.  We expect a cloture vote on the nomination one hour after the Senate convenes on Wednesday.

3:30 p.m. Senators Udall, Franken and Heitkamp spoke about Indian health care.

2:32 p.m. Senator Carper spoke about health care.

2:22 p.m. Senator Hatch spoke about health care.

2:15 p.m. The Senate returned from the recess.

12:47 p.m. Senate stands in recess until 2:15 to accomodate party luncheons.

12:47 p.m. Senate resumes consideration of the nomination of John Bush to be a US Circuit Judge for the 6th Circuit.

12:47 p.m. Patrick Shanahan confirmed as Deputy Secretary of Defense by a vote of 92-7.

Senators voting against: Booker, Gillibrand, Duckworth, Harris, Markey, Sanders and Warren.

Senators not voting: McCain.

12:15 p.m. The Senate began vote on confirmation of the nomination of Patrick Shanahan to be Deputy Secretary of Defense.

11:56 a.m. Senator Reed spoke supporting the Shanahan nomination.

11:52 a.m. Senator Shaheen asked u.c. to consider S. 1462, Marketplace Certainty Act, Senator Cornyn objected.

10:51 a.m. Minority Leader Schumer and Senators Shaheen, Klobuchar, Kaine, Carper, and Hassan spoke about health care.

10:03 a.m. Majority Leader McConnell said the Senate will take up a measure to repeal the Obama administration’s health care law.

The Senate will convene 10 a.m. and will resume post-cloture consideration of the nomination of Patrick Shanahan to be Deputy Secretary of Defense.

A confirmation vote is expected at 12:15 p.m.

The Senate will recess for policy lunches from 12:30 p.m. until 2:15 p.m.

The Senate will then resume consideration of the nomination of John Kenneth Bush, of Kentucky, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit.

Majority Leader McConnell has filed cloture on the Bush nomination and on the nomination of David Bernhardt, of Virginia, to be Deputy Secretary of the Interior.

A cloture vote expected on Bush after the Senate convenes on Wednesday. When the Senate has disposed of the Bush nomination, a cloture vote is expected on Bernhardt.
