3:58 p.m. The Senate stands adjourned untill 3:00 p.m. Monday November 6th 2023. Following Leader Remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of the Berrtagnolli nomination.

At 5:30 p.m. the Senate will hold one roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture of Monica M. Bertagnolli, of Massachusetts, to be Director of the National Institutes of Health, vice Francis S. Collins.

3:07 p.m. By a vote of 86-0, the nomination of Lt. Gen. Christopher Mahoney to be the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corp was confirmed. Not voting: Senators Braun, Cotton, Cramer, Cruz, Hyde-Smith, Lee, Markey, Moran, Paul, Schmitt, Scott (FL), Scott (SC), Tillis and Wicker.

2:22 p.m. By a vote 91-0, the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of of Lt. Gen. Christopher Mahoney to be the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps was agreed to. Senators not voting: Braun, Cotton, Cramer, Cruz, Hyde-Smith, Lee, Scott (FL), Scott (SC), and Tillis.

2:02 p.m. The Senate began voting on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Lt. Gen. Christopher Mahoney to be the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps.

2:00 p.m. By a vote of 95-1, the nomination of Gn. David Allvin to be Chief of Staff for Air Force is confirmed.

1:21 p.m. The Senate is now voting on confirmation of Gen. David Allvin to be Chief of Staff for the Air Force.

1:20 p.m. By a vote of 95-1, the Senate invoked cloture on Gen. David Allvin to be Chief of Staff for the Air Force. Senator Marshall voted no. Senators Lee, Scott (FL), Scott (SC) and Tillis did not vote.

12:51 p.m. The Senate began voting on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Gen. David Allvin to be Chief of Staff for the Air Force.

12:48 p.m. By a vote of 95-1 the Senate confirmed Admiral Lisa Franchetti to be Chief of Naval Operations. Senator Marshall voted no. Senators Lee, Scott (FL), Scott (SC), and Tillis did not vote.

12:01 p.m. The Senate began voting on confirmation of Admiral Lisa Franchetti to be Chief of Naval Operations.

11:59 p.m. By a vote of 95-1, the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Admiral Lisa Franchetti to be Chief of Naval Operations was agreed to. Senator Marshall voted no. Senators Lee, Scott (FL), Scott (SC), and Tillis did not vote.

11:03 a.m. The Senate began voting on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Admiral Lisa Franchetti to be Chief of Naval Operations.

10:57 a.m. Senator Blumenthal spoke on military promotions.

10:51 a.m. Senator Reed spoke in support of the Franchetti nomination.

10:45 a.m. Senator Carper spoke in support of the Franchetti nomination.

The Senate will convene at 10:00 a.m. At that time, resume consideration of the nomination of Admiral Lisa Franchetti to be Chief of Naval Operations.  Under the rule, the Senate would vote on cloture on the Franchetti nomination at 11:00 a.m.

Cloture has also been filed on the following nominations:
1. General David Allvin to be Chief of Staff of the Air Force
2. Christopher Mahoney to be Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps.
