4:36 p.m. The Senate adjourned and will reconvene on Monday, November 6 at 3:00 p.m. They will resume consideration of Steven Engle to be an Assistant Attorney General with a vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination at 5:30 p.m.

At 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 7th, the Senate will vote on confirmation of John H. Gibson, of Texas, to be Deputy Chief Management Officer of the Department of Defense.

4:23 p.m. Senator McConnell filed cloture on the following nominations:

  • Steven Andrew Engle to be an Assistant Attorney General.

2:57 p.m. Senator Sasse spoke about the Grasz nomination.

2:18 p.m Senator Heller spoke about the Senate schedule and work the Senate needs to do including judicial vacancies and tax reform.

2:17 p.m. The Senate confirmed the Bibas nomination by a vote of 53-43. Democrat voting aye: Manchin Not voting: McCaskill, Menendez, Nelson and Warner.

1:45 p.m. The Senate began voting on the Bibas nomination.

1:30 p.m. Senator Cardin spoke about North Korea and sanctions.

1:27 p.m. Senator Grassley spoke in favor of the Bibas nomination.

1:14 p.m. Senator Van Hollen spoke against the Republican tax bill.

1:13 p.m. Senator Toomey acheived UC that all post cloture time on the  Bibas nomination will expire at 1:45 p.m. today.  Roll call vote on confirmation of the nomination expected at that time.

1:01 p.m. Senator Toomey spoke on the tax bill released in the House today; and then spoke in favor of  the Bibas nomination.

1:00 p.m. Cloture was invoked on the Bibas nomination 54-43.

12:31 p.m. The ‪Eid nomination was confirmed 56-41.

Senators voting against: 39 Democrats, 2 Independents: King and Sanders.

12:01 p.m. The Senate began voting on confirmation of Executive Calendar #432, Allison Eid, of Colorado, to be U.S. Circuit Judge for the Tenth Circuit.

11:45 a.m. Senators Collins and Heinrich spoke about securing our nation’s voting equipment.

10:34 a.m. Senator Flake spoke about tax reform.

The Senate will convene at 9:30 a.m. and will resume post-cloture debate on  the nomination of Allison H. Eid to be a United States Circuit Judge for the Tenth Circuit.  At 11:30 a.m., it will be deemed that 30 minutes of debate remain on Eid.
