5:02 p.m. ML McConnell asked u.c. that following Leader remarks on Monday July 23rd, the Senate proceed to consideration of Executive Calendar #1000, Robert L. Wilkie, of North Carolina, to be Secretary of Veterans Affairs. The time until 5:30 p.m. be divided in the usual form and the Senate vote on the nomination. Following disposition of the Wilkie nomination, the Senate resume legislative session and consideration of H.R. 6147, Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, for FY ’19 (minibus).

4:20 p.m. Senator Portman spoke about sex trafficking.

3:16 p.m. Senator Cardin spoke about health care.

3:15 p.m. S.Res. 584, Questioning of US officials by Russian government, was agreed to by a vote of 98 to 0. Absent: Senators Shelby and McCain.

2:42 p.m. The Senate began voting on S. Res. 584, Questioning of US officials by Russian government.

2:38 p.m. Senator McConnell announced that the Bounds nomination was withdrawn.

1:36 p.m. Senator Tillis spoke about Putin. He also about immigration and keeping children with families

  • Ryan Bounds to be a United States Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit
  • Schumer resolution on the adoption of questioning U.S. officials by the Putin government

The Senate will convene at 10:00 a.m. and resume consideration of the nomination of Ryan Bounds to be a United States Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit, post-cloture.

A roll call vote is expected during Thursday’s session.
