12:37 p.m. The Senate stands adjourned until 12:00 noon Monday January 27th 2025. Following Leader Remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of Bessent nomination, post cloture.
At 5:30 p.m. the Senate will hold two roll call votes on the following

  •  Confirmation of Scott Bessent, of South Carolina, to be Secretary of the Treasury
  •  Motion to invoke cloture on Sean Duffy, of Wisconsin, to be Secretary of Transportation

12:36 p.m. By a vote of 67-23, the Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Scott Bessent to be Secretary of the Treasury .

  • Senators Blunt Rochester, Booker, Cantwell, Coons, Fetterman, Gallego, Gillibrand, Hassan, Hickenlooper, Kaine, Kelly, Ossoff, Shaheen, Slotkin, and Warmer voted in favor.
  • Senators Durbin, King, Klobuchar, Merkley, Moran, Padilla, Peters, Smith, Warnock and Wyden did not vote.

11:58 a.m. By a vote of 59-34, the Noem nomination was confirmed. Democrats voting aye: Fetterman, Hassan, Kaine, Kim, Peters, Shaheen, and Slotkin. Senators not voting: King, Merkley, Moran, Schatz, Smith, Warnock, and Wyden.

11:30 a.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on confirmation of the nomination of Kristi Noem to be Secretary of Homeland Security.

11:10 a.m. Senator Crapo spoke in support of the nomination of Scott Bessent to be secretary of Treasury.

11:01 a.m. Senator Grassley spoke on immigration.

10:36 a.m. Senator Durbin spoke on the nomination of Krisi Noem to be Secretary of Homeland Security.

10:05 a.m. Democratic Leader Schumer spoke on cabinet nominations.

9:30 a.m. The Senate convened.

The Senate will convene at 9:30 a.m. and resume consideration of the nomination of Kristi Noem to be Secretary of Homeland Security, post cloture.

At 11:30 a.m. the Senate will proceed to two roll call votes:

  1. Confirmation of the Noem nomination.
  2. Cloture on the nomination of Scott Bessent to be Secretary of Treasury.

At 5:30 p.m. on Monday January 27th the Senate will proceed to two votes:

  1. Confirmation of the Bessent nomination.
  2. Cloture on the nomination of Sean Duffy to be Secretary of Transportation.

At 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 28th the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Duffy nomination.

At 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28th the Senate will vote on cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R. 23, regarding the International Criminal Court.
