Senate Schedule

Except for pro forma sessions the Senate stands adjourned until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12th. There is one vote that evening at 5:30 p.m.

Pro forma schedule

The Senate will convene on the following dates and times for pro forma sessions only, with no business expected: Tuesday October 22 at 8:00 a.m. Friday October 25 at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday October 29 at 9:30 a.m. Friday November 1 at 11:30 a.m. Monday November 4 at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 6 at 12:00 p.m. Friday November 8 at 12:00 p.m.

1:30 p.m. The Senate adjourned until Monday February 6, 2017 at 12:00 noon.

1:08 p.m. Senator Ernst wrapped up for the day and the week. Items passed by UC: S. 305, regarding flag displays on National Vietnam War Veterans Day. UC that when the Senate adjourns it do so until 12:00 noon on Monday February 6, 2017. Further UC that on Monday, the Senate proceed to a period of morning business for leader remarks, with no motions in order for up to 15 minutes, and following leader remarks the Senate proceed to Executive Session to resume consideration of the DeVos nomination. UC that the Senate proceed to Executive Session to consider the DeVos nomination and adjourn at 1:30 p.m.

12:14 p.m. Senator Gillibrand, Reed and Murray spoke against the DeVos nomination.

10:49 a.m. Senator Hatch paid tribute to LaVell Edwards from Orem, Utah who passed away recently.

10:05 a.m. Senators Tester and Hirono spoke against the DeVos nomination.

9:01 a.m. Senator Heitkamp spoke against the DeVos nomination.

8:09 a.m. Senator Lankford spoke about the Supreme Court.

7:22 a.m. Senator Murray spoke on the DeVos nomination.

7:15 a.m. Senator Alexander spoke on the DeVos nomination.

7:14 a.m. Cloture was invoked on the DeVos nomination by a vote of 52 to 48.

6:56 a.m. The Senate is now voting on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Elisabeth DeVos to be Secretary of Education.

6:55 a.m. H.J. Res. 41 was agreed to by a vote of 52 to 47 with Senator Markey absent.

6:33 a.m. The Senate is now voting on the passage of H.J. Res. 41, disapproval of the Interior Department’s proposed stream protection rule.

6:32 a.m. Senator Schumer spoke on the DeVos nomination.

The Senate will convene at 6:30 a.m.

The Senate will vote immediately on passage of H.J. Res 41, disapproval of the Interior Department’s proposed stream protection rule.

Immediately after the regulatory vote, the Senate will vote on whether to invoke cloture on the nomination of Elisabeth DeVos to be Secretary of Education.

If cloture is invoked on the DeVos nomination, there will be up to thirty hours of post-cloture debate before the confirmation vote.

NOTE: Cloture has been filed on the Sessions, Price, and Mnuchin nominations. Cloture votes will occur in that order — with up to 30 hours of debate after each nomination for which cloture has been invoked.
