2:44 p.m. By a vote of 67 to 33, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Courtney Elwood to be general counsel of the Central Intelligence Agency.
Joining 50 Republicans in support of confirmation were independent King and Democrats Bennet, Carper, Casey, Cortez-Masto, Donnelly, Duckworth, Feinstein, Harris, Heitkamp, Kaine, Klobuchar, Manchin, McCaskill, Murphy, Nelson and Warner.
Republicans Heller and Paul and independent Sanders joined all other Democrats in opposition to confirmation.
At 2:15 p.m. the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on confirmation of the Elwood nomination.
Following disposition of the Elwood nomination, there will be up to 3 hours of debate, after which the Senate is expected to voice vote passage of S. 1094, the Department of Veterans Affairs Accountability Act.
