6:45 p.m. By a roll call vote of 51-45, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Howard Lutnick to be Secretary of Commerce, party line. Senators not voting: Booker, Moran, Peters, Sullivan.
6:30 p.m. By a roll call vote of 48-45, the Senate agreed to the motion to proceed to Executive session for consideration of the nomination of Kashyap Patel to be Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Senator Thune then filed cloture on the Patel nomination.

The Senate will convene at 3:00 p.m. Following the prayer and pledge, Senator Wicker will be recognized to deliver Washington’s Farewell Address. Following the Address, the Senate will be in a period of Morning Business with Senators permitted to speak therein for up to 10 minutes each.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., Majority Leader Thune will be recognized and the Senate is expected to proceed to at least two roll call votes:
- Motion to proceed to Executive Session for consideration of the nomination Kashyap Patel to be Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a term of ten years. (Majority Leader Thune intends to file cloture on the Patel nomination)
- Confirmation of the nomination of Howard Lutnick to be Secretary of Commerce.
