6:35 p.m. Senator Portman spoke in favor of the bipartisan Infrastructure legislation.
6:30 p.m. The motion to invoke cloture was invoked by a vote of 55 – 38. Collins, Crapo, Graham, Moran, Romney, Rounds, Scott (SC) all voting yes.
5:30 p.m. The Senate is currently voting on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Graham Scott Steele to be an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury.
5:20 p.m. Leader Schumer called up cal. # 44 , H.R. 4350, National Defense Authorization Act. He then filed cloture on the legislation.
5:00 p.m. Senator Blackburn spoke on gold star recipient legislation.
4:15 p.m. Senator Cornyn spoke on spending legislation.
4:04 p.m. Senator Grassley spoke on Protecting America’s First Responders Act and President Biden allegedly using private email for government business.
3:17 p.m. Senator Tuberville spoke on spending legislation and adoption.
3:05 p.m. RL McConnell paid tribute to Senator Leahy and spoke on the economy as well as the National Defense Authorize Act.
The Senate will convene at 3:00 p.m. and following any Leader remarks will resume consideration of the nomination of Graham Scott Steele to be an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury.
At 5:30 p.m., the Senate will proceed to a cloture vote on the Steele nomination.
The Senate reached an agreement that at a time to be determined the Senate consider the nomination of Jonathan Kanter to be an Assistant Attorney General, with 10 minutes for debate prior to a roll call vote on confirmation of the nomination.
Cloture has also been filed on the following nominations:
1. Robert Bonnie to be Under Secretary of Agriculture for Farm Production and Conservation.
2. Brian Nelson to be Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Crimes.
