6:35 p.m. The Senate stands adjourned until 12 noon on Tuesday, January 14th. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will be in a period of morning business for debate only with senators permitted up to 10 minutes each. The Senate will recess from 12:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. for weekly caucus lunches.

At 2:45 p.m. the Senate will resume consideration of S. 5, the Laken Riley Act.

Roll call votes are possible during Tuesday’s session.

6:33 p.m. By a vote of 82-10, the Senate agreed to the motion to proceed to S. 5, the Laken Riley Act. Senators voting no: Booker, Hirono, Kim, Lujan, Markey, Merkley, Sanders, Schatz, Smith, and Warren. Senators not voting: Fetterman, Graham, Justice (has not be sworn-in yet), Mullin, Murray, Padilla, Schiff, and Vance (resigned).

5:26 p.m. The Senate is now voting on the motion to proceed to S. 5, the Laken Riley Act.

5:16 p.m. Senator Markey spoke on TikTok.

3:45 p.m. Senator Durbin spoke about S.5, the Laken Riley Act, immigration and the confirmational hearing of Pam Bondi for Attorney General.

3:44 p.m. Under Rule XIV, H.R. 23, Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act, was placed on the calendar.

3:39 p.m. Majority Leader Thune spoke about the Laken Riley Act and immigration.

3:25 p.m. Democratic Leader Schumer spoke on inflation, the nomination of Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense, the Laken Riley Act, Presidential pardons and his meeting with a Holocaust survivor.
