6:25 p.m. By a vote of 60-35, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Brendan Owens to be an Assistant Secretary of Defense.

3:24 p.m. Republican Leader McConnell spoke on newly sworn-in Senator Ricketts of Nebraska.
3:15 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer spoke on the shooting in Monterey Park, California and the debt ceiling.
3:10 p.m. Pete Ricketts (R) was sworn-in as the new senator for the State of Nebraska, appointed to fill the seat vacated by Senator Sasse.
The Senate will convene at 3:00 p.m. and following any Leader remarks, will proceed to consideration of the nomination of Brendan Owens to be an Assistant Secretary of Defense.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., the Senate will proceed to a vote on confirmation of the Owens nomination.
