The Senate adjourned at 1:26 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 20. Following leader remarks, the Senate will begin consideration of Executive Calendar #971 R. Russell Rumbaugh to be an Assistant Secretary of the Navy.

The Senate will recess from 12:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. for weekly caucus lunches.

Senators not voting: Barrasso, Burr, Cardin, Cruz, Hickenlooper, Inhofe, Kaine, Lummis, Manchin, Moran, Murray, Risch, Sasse, Shaheen, Tillis, and Van Hollen.

5:00 p.m. The Senate began a vote on confirmation of Martin J. Gruenberg to be Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

4:59 p.m. Senator Menendez spoke on Turkey.

4:38 p.m. Senator Grassley spoke on the IRS.

4:08 p.m. Senator Sullivan spoke on Taiwan.

3:50 p.m. Senator Durbin spoke on Senator Shelby’s retirement and for-profit colleges.

5:44 p.m. Republican Leader McConnell spoke on NDAA and paid tribute to retiring Senator Shelby.

3:18 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer spoke on Hannukah and the omnibus.

The Senate will convene at 3:00 p.m. and following Leader remarks will consider Executive Calendar #1301, Martin Gruenberg to be a Member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Senators should expect a 5:30 p.m. vote on either the Gruenberg nomination or in relation to the Omnibus.
