Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of the House message with respect to S.2938, the vehicle for Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.
We expect to recess from 12:30pm until 2:15pm to allow for the weekly caucus meetings.
During Tuesday’s session, Senator Schumer filed cloture on the motion to concur in the House amendment to S.2938 with amendment #5099 (text of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act). Absent an agreement, this cloture vote would occur one hour after the Senate convenes on Thursday.
During Wednesday’s session, Senator Schumer is expected to move to discharge the nomination of Arianna J. Freeman, of Pennsylvania, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit, from the Judiciary Committee.
As a reminder, the votes on confirmation of the following nominations will occur at times to be determined by the Majority Leader in consultation with the Republican Leader:
1. Executive Calendar #716 Cathy Ann Harris, of Maryland, to be Chairman of the Merit Systems Protection Board
2. Executive Calendar #919 Mary T. Boyle, of Maryland, to be a Commissioner of the Consumer Product Safety Commission
Roll call votes are expected during Wednesday’s session, beginning in the afternoon. Another message will be sent when they are set.

Republicans voting in favor: Senators Blunt, Burr, Capito, Cassidy, Collins, Cornyn, Ernst, Graham, McConnell, Murkowski, Portman, Romney, Tillis, & Young.

5:30 p.m. The Senate is currently voting on the confirmation of the nomination of Ana Isabel de Alba to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of California. The nomination was confirmed by a roll call vote of 53-45. Senator Collins, Graham and Murkowski voted yea. Senators Cramer and Toomey didn’t vote.
