Treaty #119-1: The injunction of secrecy be removed from the following treaty transmitted to the Senate on January 14, 2025: Treaty with United Arab Emirates on Mutual Legal Assistant in Criminal Matters.
S.Res.26 To constitute the Majority party’s member on certain committees for the 119th Congress.

3:47 p.m. Senator Cotton spoke the Biden administration and Presidential pardons. He then asked for unanimous consent for the Senate to agree to the following resolutions en bloc, S. Res. 24 and S. Res. 25. Senator Durbin objected to the en bloc request. Senator Durbin then asked for unanimous consent for the Senate to agree to his resolution regarding Presidential pardons for January 6th defendants. Senator Cotton objected to Senator Durbin’s request.

3:32 p.m. Senator Hawley spoke about the working class.

3:19 p.m. Senator Britt spoke about S. 5, the Laken Riley Act.

2:51 p.m. Senator Cornyn spoke on cabinet nominations.

2:33 p.m. Senator Justice was sworn in.

12:42 p.m. The Senate stands in recess until 2:15 p.m.

12:36 p.m. Senator Durbin spoke about President Biden accomplishments.

12:28 p.m. Senator Borrasso spoke about President- Elect Cabinet nominations.

12:18 p.m. Democratic Leader spoke on the confirmation hearing of Pete Hegseth to be Secretary of Defense.

12:04 p.m. Majority Leader Thune spoke on energy costs.

12:02 p.m. Senator Grassley spoke about the Iowa House of Representatives and his grandson, Patrick, who is serving as Speaker of the House.

The Senate will convene at 12 noon. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will be in a period of morning business with senators permitted to speak up to 10 minutes each.

The Senate will recess from 12:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. to allow for weekly caucus lunches.
