11:12 a.m. Majority Leader Thune filed cloture on the motion to proceed to S. 5, The Laken Riley Act, a bill to require the Secretary of Homeland Security to take into custody aliens who have been charged in the United States with theft and for other purposes.

He also received unanimous consent for the second reading of S. 9, a bill to provide that for purposes of determining compliance of Title 9 of the Education Amendment, sex shall be recognized by a person’s genetics at birth.
