6:25 p.m. The Senate stands adjourned until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24th. At 12:00 Noon, the Senate will vote on the Motion to Invoke Cloture on the nomination of Michael Sfraga to be Ambassador at Large for Arctic Affairs.

Following the cloture vote on the Sfraga nomination, the Senate will recess until 2:15pm to allow for the weekly party caucus lunches.

Under the regular order, there will be two votes at 2:15pm:

  1. Confirmation of the the nomination of Michael Sfraga to be Ambassador at Large for Arctic Affairs (if cloture is invoked).
  2. Motion to Invoke Cloture on the Motion to Proceed to H.R. 1555 (Legislative vehicle for a Continuing Resolution).

6:23 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer asked unanimous consent the Senate proceed to the consideration en bloc of S. Res. 838, S.Res. 839, S.Res. 840, S.Res. 841, S.Res, 842, S.Res. 843, and S.Res. 844. The resolutions were adopted en bloc by unanimous consent.

6:22 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer filed cloture on Executive Calendar #787 Byron B. Conway to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

6:21 p.m. By a vote of 69-17, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Rose Jenkins to be a Judge of the United States Tax Court.

Not voting: Senators Brown, Cardin, Cassidy, Coons, Cotton, Fetterman, Hyde-Smith, Lujan, Manchin, Murphy, Risch, Sinema, Sullivan and Vance.

5:30 p.m. The senate is voting on the nomination of Rose E. Jenkins to be a Judge of the United States Tax Court for a term of fifteen years, post-cloture.

4:40 p.m. Senator Cornyn spoke on the lack of activity on the Senate floor and asked Leader Schumer to call up funding bills.

4:20 p.m. Senator Grassley spoke on federal whistleblowers and transparency and accountability in the government.

3:40 p.m. Senator Durbin spoke about the CR. He then asked unanimous consent that amendment #3293 be adopted to S. 4968, DHS Joint Task Forces Reauthorization Act of 2024.

3:28 p.m. Republican Leader McConnell spoke about Hezbollah and Israel.

3:17 p.m. Majority Leader Schumer spoke on the CR, reproductive rights and project 2025.

3:00 p.m. The Senate convened.

The Senate will convene at 3:00 p.m. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and resume consideration of the nomination of Rose E. Jenkins to be a Judge of the United States Tax Court for a term of fifteen years, post-cloture.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. – one vote:

1. Confirmation of the Jenkins nomination.
