7:42 p.m. The Senate adjourned and will reconvene at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25. They will resume consideration of the House message to accompany S. 2073. At 11:30 a.m. the Senate will vote on confirmation of the nomination of Kashi Way to be a Judge of the United States Tax Court for a term of fifteen years. At 2:15 p.m. the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the motion to concur to the House amendment to accompany S. 2073 with amendment #3021 (KOSA/COPPA) .

6:57 p.m. By a vote of 51-43, the Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Margaret L. Taylor to be Legal Adviser of the Department of State. Senator Murkowski voted in favor. Senators not voting: Cruz, Lee, Marshall, Menendez, Tuberville, and Vance.

6:09 p.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Margaret L. Taylor to be Legal Adviser of the Department of State.

6:04 p.m. By a vote of 85-12, the Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Adam B. Landy to be a Judge of the United States Tax Court for a term of fifteen years.

4:16 p.m. By a vote of 77-17, the Senate invoked cloture on Kashi Way to be a Judge of the United States Tax Court. Senators voting no: Blackburn, Cramer, Cruz, Duckworth, Ernst, Hawley, Hyde Smith, Kennedy, Marshall, McConnell, Paul, Rubio, Schmitt, Scott (FL), Scott (SC), Sullivan, and Tuberville. Senators not voting: Hagerty, Kaine, Lee, Menendez, Vance, and Warren.

3:08 p.m. The Senate began a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Kashi Way to be a Judge of the United States Tax Court for a term of fifteen years.

The Senate will convene at 10:00am. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session to resume consideration of the nomination of Kashi Way to be a Judge of the United States Tax Court for a term of fifteen years. The Senate will recess from 11:45am until 3:00pm to allow for the weekly caucus luncheons and the Joint Meeting of Congress.

At 1:20pm, Senators will gather and at 1:30pm will proceed as a body to the House of Representatives. At 2:00pm, His Excellency Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, will address a Joint Meeting of Congress.

At approximately 3:15pm, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the Way nomination.

At approximately 5:00pm, the Senate will proceed to two roll call votes relative to the following:

  • Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Adam B. Landy to be a Judge of the United States Tax Court for a term of fifteen years.
  • Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Margaret L. Taylor to be Legal Adviser of the Department of State.

If cloture is invoked on the Way, Landy, or Taylor nominations, confirmation will occur at a time to be determined by the Majority Leader in consultation with the Republican Leader.

During Tuesday’s session Senator Schumer laid before the Senate the House message to accompany S.2073, and filled the amendment tree. Senator Schumer filed cloture on the motion to concur in the House amendment to S.2073 with amendment #3021 (KOSA/COPPA). A vote in relation to this is likely to occur on Thursday.
